The second of our imaginary single releases, and final for the ‘Joyride’ era, this time the Double AA Side Single that was also our ‘Monthly Mock-Up’ for April, “get on up and kick it!” … Excited?

Following on from April’s Monthly Mock-Up on Wednesday, we also feature it in our ROX40 Countdown.

Thomas E picked ‘Hotblooded‘ and I opted for ‘(Do You Get) Excited?‘ – the perfect combo!

Kinda like the ‘Listen To Your Heart / Dangerous‘ double AA side from the ‘Look Sharp!‘ days, we kinda thought this would work too.

‘Hotblooded‘ is unique and a rare oddity in the Rox Catalogue, as it was one of the few collaborations by Per and Marie. Initially earmarked as the opener for the album, before ‘Joyride‘ came along. Written as a funky acoustic number as we first got to hear on the wonderful ‘BAG OF TRIX‘ collections.

Despite not being the opener for the album, it became the opener for the ‘Join The Joyride‘ and ‘Summer Joyride‘ Tours. It was a real goosebump moment in the dark, seeing both Per and Marie under the spotlights, before it all kicked-off! We can’t wait to hear it on the upcoming ‘Joyride Live‘ album!

On the flip side, ‘(Do You Get) Excited?‘ was also a co-write, this time by Per and Matts ‘MP’ Persson.

This to me is Roxette. To this day, I simply cannot fathom how and why the single was cancelled. I still stand by the thinking that it would have been a big big hit. Alas, not meant to be.

The ‘Excited‘ video is just sublime, similar to the one for ‘Church Of Your Heart‘ of course, but somehow, much better. Hopefully a 4K remaster is in plan after the recent ‘Dressed For Success‘?

I do also hope ‘(Do You Get) Excited?‘ is brought back to life during the next leg of the ‘ROXETTE 2026 TOUR‘, similar to ‘Things Will Never Be The Same‘, that was a fan dream to hear in full force.
