Marie: “I have lost many years”
In an article published by Expressen today details of Marie Fredriksson’s new autobiography “Kärleken till livet” – Love for Life are released and we get to learn a little bit more about what we can expect. In the book, Marie talks about the support from her husband Micke and children, but also about the difficulties to walk and why Per was not invited to her wedding.
Of course, a lot of the material in the book will cover Marie’s diagnosis and subsequent recovery from a well documented brain tumour in 2002. Marie herself did not talk about plans for her funeral, but Micke was preparing for her death and would use tricks to get Marie to tell him what she would like. Marie reveals that she now suffers from a radiation injury, caused by the intense courses of radiation that Marie underwent. The problems with Marie’s feet began in 2011 and one of the treatments to try and counteract this was a botox injection.
Marie explains that she has became afraid to walk alone and unaided after falling many times – she does not even go outside into the garden anymore. Marie longs for a warm spring and to sit and enjoy the sunshine.
When Per & Åsa were not invited to Marie and Micke’s wedding the world media speculated that Roxette was going to split up. Marie explains that she was tired of Roxette back then. Looking back she understands that some of their friends felt excluded and dissappointed, but that is how they both wanted their wedding to be – just a small affair.
Naturally, Roxette features a lot in the new publication – the Charm School Tour netted the duo, according to Dagens Nyheter, SEK1.5 billion in ticket sales! Marie is also super pleased that Per and herself have bought Roxette back to the world stage and she is very proud of everything that they have acheived.
Despite all the setbacks, Marie still has a bright outlook on life. Marie has accepted that she now has the radiation injury to live with, but everyday she is thankful that she is still here. And that she can still sing.

Looking to the future, we all know that Roxette are working on a new album at the moment which will hopefully be released ’early 2016’. There is also the rumoured new Marie Fredriksson solo song, which is to be featured in the upcoming Krigarnas Ö movie. There is no actual release date and nothing has been confirmed by Marie’s management but, according to the movie’s direct Emil Jonsvik, the soundtrack – featuring the new MF track – will be out later this year!
