Amsterdam: Dutch Paradise

AMSTERDAM – To put it in Per’s words as he posted on Facebook, yesterday evening another “Dutch Paradise” took place in an almost sold-out Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam.

Roxette @ HMH Amsterdam 2015-2

Three years ago, Roxette sold out the same venue and three years before that, just a few miles away in a much smaller venue, something very special happened. Marie joined Per on stage for the first time after her illness, signalling the return of Roxette which would happen a while later. Tonight, Marie was a queen on stage sending out an air of victory and power. Her amazing comeback is something that was clear throughout the show and beautiful to see. The band seemed to be in great shape with Per jumping around the stage and making contact with the audience, energetic as ever.

While the Dutch crowd is never a crazy wild one, it especially enjoyed classic hits such as “Fading Like A Flower,”  “It Must Have Been Love” and “How Do You Do!” which most visitors could sing along with. The neat graphics projected behind the stage certainly added to that, the new stage really adds to the experience. Hearing “The Heart Shaped Sea” in such a wonderful rendition with Magnus on mandolin was a beautiful experience, it’s great to hear some of the non-singles live!
