“I was raised the northern way“. Yup, me too!
A stand-out track on ‘TOURISM‘. Great song, great lyrics, amazing performance. Surprised this one didn’t make it to a full on single release.
‘The Rain’
“One of my favorite lyrics and songs, written in July 1991 in the middle of the very long ‘Join the Joyride’ World Tour. It was custom made for our brand new big Roxette sound and it eventually showed up on the Tourism album in 1992. We played it a lot live and it’s always been a treat”.
Per Gessle, Songs, Sketches and Reflections, 2014
“We recorded that song here in Stockholm, and it’s a very nice lyric… Per and myself have worked together for so long, that when he writes a song for me,
its a typical Marie song, the lyrics fit me perfectly”.
Marie Fredriksson, Talking About Tourism, 1992
We were lucky of course to hear its live debut during the ‘Crash! Boom! Bang! World Tour‘ in 1994/1995. Were you there?
Stevo also featured this one as part of the whole Ghost Tracks feature a good while back, check it out. He too is a fan of this one.
