ROXETTE – LIVE IN SYDNEY 1991
TO RECEIVE WORLD PREMIERE IN STOCKHOLM
The newly restored film will receive its world premiere at ‘The Stockholm International Film Festival‘ on 17 November 2026, two days before it arrives on SVT Play. The screening takes place at ‘Bio Skandia’ at 20:30 and is being presented as a special Red Carpet / Face2Face event.
Following the film, Per Gessle and director Henrik Burman will appear in person for a Face2Face discussion.
The festival listing gives the cinema version a runtime of 110 minutes, making it substantially longer than the approximately one-hour version due to premiere on SVT Play on 19 November.
This confirms the previously announced ‘longer theatrical version’ of the Sydney concert film is now complete.

‘Per and Marie – The Story of Roxette’ – Documentary
The documentary, ‘Per and Marie – The Story of Roxette’, will have it’s TV premiere on 19 November 2026 and tells the story of Roxette through a mixture of private films, photographs, archive interviews and newly recorded material.
Much of the material is described as rare or previously unseen, offering a more personal look at the partnership between Per and Marie, both on and off stage. Per appears in newly recorded interviews for the series, while Marie is represented through archive interviews and historical footage.
A wide range of people connected to Roxette are also understood to feature, including Åsa Gessle, Marie Dimberg, Eva Dahlgren, Efva Attling, Jonas Åkerlund, Clarence Öfwerman, Anders Herrlin, Kjell Andersson, Christoffer Lundqvist, Mikael Bolyos and Tina Fredriksson.
The series promises to cover the rise of Roxette from Sweden to international success, as well as the personal and professional relationship that powered the band through some of the biggest years of their career.
Roxette – Live in Sydney 1991
Alongside the documentary, SVT will also premiere a newly restored concert film, Roxette – Live in Sydney, on 19 November.
The film has been created from original footage shot during Roxette’s Join the Joyride World Tour in Australia in 1991.
According to information released around the production, the team had access to approximately 85 hours of material spread across around 100 reels, shot on 35mm and 16mm film, together with multichannel audio recordings.
The surviving material covers three Sydney concerts, giving the filmmakers a substantial archive from which to reconstruct the performance.
The SVT version is expected to run for around one hour and include approximately 14 to 15 songs.
Rather than simply reissuing an old broadcast or home-video edit, the project has been newly restored and re-edited from the surviving source material.
The concert film is directed by Henrik Burman and produced by PINE.
The scale of the surviving archive is particularly significant. With dozens of hours of original film and audio now available to the production, Live in Sydney represents one of the most substantial restorations of Roxette concert material from the early 1990s to date.
For fans, November will therefore bring two very different journeys back into the Roxette story: one through the private and personal history of Per and Marie, and the other through the energy of the band at the height of the Joyride era.
