Press Release: “Why Don’t You Bring Me Flowers?”
PRESS RELEASE written by SVEN LINDSTRÖM
Roxette keeps that sweet summer feeling going all through the autumn with their new remix of ”Why Don’t You Bring Me Flowers”, the third single release from the group’s latest album ”Good Karma”, which was released early this summer.
After a remix resembling a total makeover, ”Why Don’t You Bring Me Flowers” is transformed into an energetic and atmospheric up-tempo pop that doesn’t have much more than the melody in common with the bittersweet piano ballad released on the album. Or maybe we should say “recovered”, since the song actually started its journey as an up-tempo number before Roxette singer Marie Fredriksson suggested they should lower the tempo and try it out as a ballad.
– ” I wrote ”Why Don’t You Bring Me Flowers” as an up-tempo number, and recorded the demo accordingly. But during studio work Marie wanted to try it out as a ballad, which worked astonishingly well, so we used that on the album”, Per Gessle says.
– “When it was time to do the single version we felt it would be fun to try out the original idea, so we sent the song to producer duo Addeboy vs Cliff who we cooperated a lot with while making the album. In the end we only kept the vocals and redid everything else—and the result was a song that was much more in line with the original idea“.
The result is a piece of classic melodic Roxette pop in a seducingly updated version. Also on the single is a remix by Patrick Jordan as well as the preciously unreleased original version of ”From A Distance” from the ”Good Karma” album. Enjoy!
