Marie Fredriksson honored during Grammys broadcast

LOS ANGELES – One of the most emotional segments of the 62nd annual Grammy Awards broadcast live from Staples Center Sunday night was the “In Memoriam” reel honoring those in the music industry we lost this past year.

Marie Fredriksson was included, and “It Must Have Been Love” continued to be used as the soundtrack for the next three people on the list.

As the segment came to a close, with Trombone Shorty and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band playing music typical of a spirited jazz funeral in New Orleans, the camera slowly zoomed in on a wall of memorial images at the back of the stage. Marie’s photo happened to be amongst those in the very middle and the camera kept zooming in (well after one would think the director should have cut back to the jazz band) until there were only about four, one of which was still Marie’s. Unfortunately, in the YouTube video the Recording Academy posted, they cut out the jazz band segment entirely.
