HELLO YOU FOOL!

Kicking of a brand new era, we have the wonderfully technicolour opener, ‘Joyride’.

Based partly on a note Per left for Åsa, put together with a Beatles reference, and finally, whistle inspiration from Monty Python’s ‘Life of Brian’ and their song, ‘Always Look On The Bright Side of Life’. What a mix.

It wasn’t the preferred lead single by their record company, EMI. They had their sights on power-ballad ‘Spending My Time’. Thankfully, both Per and Marie stood their ground and ‘Joyride’ was released. Phew! It became their fourth Billboard #1 in the US, as well as topping the charts elsewhere in the world.
