“Hey baby, let’s stay together, let’s make it now forever…”

Recorded in the summer of 1993…

“Written for the CBB album, and when I recorded the demo with Mats, I felt like hey, this is brilliant we’ve got the first single!
It felt like a really fresh start for me, with that spoken section … but it didn’t even make the album…”
Per Gessle, In Conversation with Sven Lindström

Like we wrote earlier for ‘Sleeping In My Car‘, on first play of the ‘Crash! Boom! Bang!‘ album to EMI, the feedback to Per was that it was great, but they “couldn’t hear the first single“.

Massively p*ssed off, Per went home and wrote ‘Sleeping In My Car‘. He got the gang together quickly, and it was recorded. The first single was a banger. EMI were happy. ‘Crazy About You‘ was quickly dropped from the 15 track album, replaced by ‘Sleeping In My Car‘ and the rest as they say, is history.

Crazy About You‘ became an album outtake and appeared in several places as a b-side.

Interestingly, it first appeared not in its original ‘Crash! Boom! Bang! Version‘ but as a revisited and more polished version that was perhaps considered as one of the new tracks for ‘Don’t Bore Us – Get To The Chorus!‘, who knows? However, that of course didn’t happen and it was again relegated to being a b-side for ‘You Don’t Understand Me‘. We first got to hear its original version on the ‘Salvation‘ single, if memory serves?

Sleeping In My Car‘ was of course the right choice for lead single, but we couldn’t not include ‘Crazy About You‘ in the #ROX40 Countdown, as for a couple of weeks it was considered the lead single.
