She Doesn’t Live Here Anymore

Time to bring out the guitars… Another belter from the Greatest Hits!

“We grew up together, we’ve been here forever…”

This is Thomas 1’s ultimate Rox tune. He loves it. I join him in that love as it’s a great summery feeling guitar-led beast of a song.

Released as the final official commercial single from ‘Don’t Bore Us – Get To The Chorus!‘ meant the era ended with a bang! The song had actually been written years earlier and was intended to be part of ‘Crash! Boom! Bang!‘, however it wasn’t meant to be.

Marie called the demo “tired sounding”, which we have to disagree with having heard the demo as part of ‘CBB30‘. It’s a great demo!  The song finally had its moment when Roxette were joined by members of Gyllene Tider to record the 1995 version. The song is a rarity as it’s not produced by Clarence.

As for the actual single release… It was only released in certain regions, including Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and a few others.

The video was very reminiscent of the photoshoot Roxette did during rehearsals for the ‘Crash! Boom! Bang! World Tour‘ as seen in the Tour Programme and also as part of the ‘Rarities‘ compilation release (we’ve used these for the single cover!). The video was shot in a warehouse space, it’s very grungy and suits the song perfectly. It’s another one directed by Jonas Åkerlund. Micke Syd plays the drums, both for real and in the video. We love it!

The song made its live debut during ‘Gessle Over Europe‘, then as Roxette during the comeback gigs, even beyond. It’s a great song, and sounds awesome live. Hopefully, it’ll return.
