Dance Passion Re-Remixed by Bassflow in 2015

Acclaimed Swedish producer Peter “Bassflow” Boström has once again joined forces with Roxette and will remix the 1987 album Dance Passion to be released on the 5th of June 2015 under the new title Dance Passion 2015. Edit: Well, this was posted April 1 so maybe it’s not entirely truthful after all…

Having already collaborated with Roxette, remaking Charm School’s “Speak to Me” and 1991 B-Side “The Sweet Hello, The Sad Goodbye”, the producer promises a fresh and modern sound to the overlooked 1987 Roxette release.

An excited Per Gessle says it’s a chance to right a wrong from the past “…The original Dance Passion project isn’t exactly a highlight in the mighty Roxette back catalog, so this is a chance to go back and give the album the proper treatment it deserves… I didn’t like it back then, however I started listening to it a lot during the Oz tour and felt that the remixes weren’t that terrible, is there something that can be done to make them even better?

When it came to deciding which producer would take on such a project, Gessle explains that the choice was an obvious one “We love Peter and the fab work he did on a couple of Roxette ballads, he was definitely the guy for the job!

And what can Roxette fans expect from the new Dance Passion 2015? Per describes the album as “…a splendid explosion of sounds for your listening pleasure! The whole album sounds totally different to the original, I’m sure the Roxers out there will love it; custom made for hungry ears! Peter has gone back to the original masters and remixed from there”.

The album is set to be a true collector’s item with only 200 copies set to be pressed and released on a clear 12” vinyl. Per explains “We’re only making 200 copies available to give this whole project a real exclusive feel”. For those not lucky enough to secure a physical copy; a full digital iTunes release will be made available in June all around the world.

“Like Lovers Do” has been selected as the album’s only single and will be serviced to radio as a digital promo a few weeks before the album’s full release.

Wow!! This is such exciting news! The bassflow remixes are some of my all time favourite tracks of ANY artist. A whole EP of classic tracks redone in this style is beyond my wildest dreams.

    • Martin

Hmm.. not funny. Such a cruel joke.

  • Jim

ah crap lol! I wasn’t thinking because it isn’t April fools where I am yet. But alas, well played my friend… well played! 🙂

  • URCogProf

FINALLY Per and Marie are realizing they reached their creative and artistic peak in 1987 and it’s all been downhill since “Dance Passion.” Now, will they also be updating that other underappreciated masterpiece, “Baladas En Espanol”? How about “Baladas En Bassflow”?? Por favor!

Best to check the date of the article…

      • URCogProf

Yes, June 5th – my order is already placed! So long to wait… and WOW does “Like Lovers Do” ever sound different in that clip! Different vocals, different lyrics… it’s like a whole other song!

Dance Passion was terrific but I prefer the early demos of those songs performed in their original Klingon.

  • SimplyMe

A classic April 1st joke… TDR never lets me down!

  • RobS

Oh, for f*cks sake! This one really got me excited.

  • Adam

Bassflow should just remix Neverending Love for real.

It’s mean that this is still a “real” article as of 4/7! Anyhoo, it does beg the question on why this entire album has been forgotten. I have a bootleg that I acquired in the late 90s but it sounds like it was copied from a vinyl record. From what I understand this material has never even been released in a clean digital format, but is that correct? Is it available on sites like iTunes?

I still remember the days when Pearls of Passion was basically a ghost album that existed only in rumor and it was then re-released on CD. Even that was an almost astonishing 20 years ago! Those discussions ages ago about acquiring this abandoned album seem quaint in comparison to Dance Passion which has still not been released in any format including something as easy as a digital download!

OMG I just checked iTunes to see if it was there, but it is not. What shocked the hell out of me is how the albums cost more as low-res digital downloads than as an actual physical CD. $1.29 for a single digital download only song? Are you kidding me?

I am seeing this several days after the post date…and it is even less amusing now. LOL. Really, really, really good one. So angry. So much laughing.
