The whole ‘Room Service‘ recording sessions concluded with Roxette wanting a short, punchy album, so it ended up with only 12 songs making the final cut. One of the many outtakes had possibly one of the coolest Roxette song titles ever…

‘Bla Bla Bla Bla Bla (You Broke My Heart)‘ being left off the album was madness, as it’s such a cool song. Instead, the finished version eventually surfaced in 2003 on the Limited Edition Bonus EP that came with ‘The Pop Hits‘ (more on that in the coming weeks).

‘Bla‘ is a great quirky piece of Gessle pop, with even a touch of Brit-Pop in the mix. The verses build nicely before arriving at that wonderful chorus, reducing all the promises and excuses from a broken relationship to, well… “bla bla bla bla bla“. Only Per could really get away with it, and it works so wonderfully.

As for the original T&A Demo, well that one finally appeared in 2006 as part of ‘The Rox Box / Roxette ’86–’06‘. It would be amazing to hear the song live. Perhaps one day Per could consider doing an ‘Anti-Tour’ format, performing only Roxette rarities, outtakes, B-sides and even demos that have never been performed live before.
