The Daily Roxette presents ROX40
Church of your Heart
Yes its true, it’s time for single number five from ‘Joyride’, the spring/summery feeling Church of your Heart…
This was an odd choice of single when you think about it.
It wasn’t featured on what Per considers to be, the definitive version of ‘Joyride‘ the album, the vinyl version.
‘Church‘ and ‘(Do You Get) Excited?‘ both received the video treatment as part of the whole ‘LIVEISM‘ Project down under. The videos being very similar in content, with a mixture of live and dedicated footage filmed elsewhere. Both cool.
Indeed, ‘Excited‘ was the planned sixth and final single from ‘Joyride‘ however it was eventually scrapped due to all the record company changes during the period.
Upon release, Swedish media commented that this was the closest Roxette had sounded to Gyllene Tider. It was also a break in the design of the singles, what with its suddenly cream sleeve, but still keeping a splash of colour with the paint effect back cover.
In later years, it became a great and thoughtful ending to the Roxette live shows, we really enjoyed that, it was very fitting.
