A request came in from the Production Team of a new movie called ‘3,000 Dollars’ for a new love song to be written by Per.

Roxette were on Tour and heavily in the middle of ongoing promotion.  There just wasn’t any time and instead, Per cleverly offered an updated version of their 1987 Christmas hit single, simply swapping out the lyrics “Christmas Day…” to “Winter’s Day…”.

The movie became ‘Pretty Woman’ and Gary Marshall, it’s Director, loved the ‘new’ song so much that he re-edited part of the movie to ensure that the scene not only featured, but focussed on the song entirely. To this day, the song is largely regarded as one the best break-up songs of that era, and is probably Roxette’s best known and successful ballad.

First released in 1990 as part of promotion for the movie internationally, then again for the UK in 1993 to coincide with it’s TV premiere, then once more in 2015 for it’s 25th Anniversary.

We won’t say much else about it for now, as we’re closely monitoring streaming for it’s one billionth play, which will be yet another amazing achievement for the song.
