The Daily Roxette presents ROX40
Run To You
The fourth official single release from ‘Crash! Boom! Bang!’, a big radio hit.
‘Run To You‘ was released during the World Tour, and as such, the video clip was a wonderful behind the scenes montage that suited the song really well, directed by Jonas Åkerlund.

In the UK, the release followed the same format, with a 2 part CD single being released. It was an exciting time and the height of CD singles, alas no 12″ Vinyl. The song was a big radio hit in the UK (#6 Radio Airplay) and was played all the time on ‘Atlantic 252‘. It was a moderate hit in the charts, but still a hit. ‘Smash Hits‘ magazine scored it a very favourable 4 out of 5.
Notably, the single itself featured a different ‘Roxette‘ logo to the album, which was then subsequently dropped. It was a bit of an odd one and clashed with the rest of the era. The live image was a really good one, however, the ‘baseball-esque‘ logo just didn’t do it for us. For our cover, we returned to the album and live theme. The photos here you may recognise from the VHS / Laserdisc ‘Crash! Boom! Live!‘ that we carefully scanned and restored. We’ve also included the original single cover, albeit in another colour. Photography was by Ulf Magnusson / Roxette Official, and original sleeves by Kjell Andersson / Karl-Magnus. What’s not to like?
Roxette returned to do some promo for the single (and Tour), playing ‘Top of the Pops‘ (live), plus various other TV shows like ‘MTV Most Wanted‘ (live) and ‘Pebble Mill‘ (playback). See below for some video clips, including various shows from the World Tour.
No official remixes for this one, but we did track down an unofficial mix (listen below) and it’s interesting to hear what this could have sounded like. We know some don’t like EDM, but this one isn’t too bad. It would have been cool to hear some alternative versions of ‘Run To You‘, perhaps an unplugged version.
We do believe ‘Run To You‘ should have been included on 1995’s ‘Don’t Bore Us – Get To The Chorus!‘ seeing as it was a much bigger hit than ‘Vulnerable‘. The song was however revisited and translated for the 1996 album, ‘Baladas en Español‘.
What’s your memories of this single?
