One more Per Gessle interview from Austria. Mr. G talks about his career, songwriting, Roxette, Marie, the tour and his new solo album, "Small Town Talk". Practice your German! ;) /PP Read the interview here: https://www.krone.at/1765249 Part of it in English: krone.at: - Marie has always been considered being a strong, chaotic person and you a meticulously organized worker. Was that the special magic of your artistic relationship? PG: - We were always really very different people and that was probably it. We complemented each other. I always say that my songs got so much better when Marie sang them and Clarence produced them. Before Roxette I was always missing the groove in my songs. Clarence has equipped the songs with more funk so he has changed the arrangements significantly. He did not change my style, but the result. When I realized that Marie had such a powerful voice, I was just happy. On our debut album "Pearls Of Passion" there was the first song "Soul Deep" - with her voice it sounded completely different. So much better. It was like writing a brand new song because when I sang it, it just sounded too ordinary. On the other hand, what Marie liked about me is that I could build the foundation for her. She and her then boyfriend couldn't write such songs. I made the material and she finished it. That was the main part of our magic. krone.at: - Are you still in regular contact with her today? PG: - Of course we are always in contact. We talk very often. She had her 60th birthday at the end of May. She lives with her family now very withdrawn and of course I fully understand that.
