Name You Beautiful – Exclusive video preview

Per had invited all fans and friends to be part of the video to his new single “Name You Beautiful”. And here is the result. Exclusive on The Daily Roxette.

Folks, this is one of our infamous April Fools pranks. Every year on April 1, we're trying to come up with an incredible story that sounds too good to be true and in fact it never really is. Hope you enjoy this little joke of ours. Here's a list of almost all our pranks so far. Thanks!

+++ Thank you all for having fun together. Of course you found out that this was our annual April Fool’s Day joke. Wait for next year! We too are looking forward to the actual NYB video to be released… soon. +++

As you may remember, Per (and others) had written the anthem for the Liebherr World Table Tennis Championships 2018 which are currently taking place in his hometown Halmstad. The song is called “Name You Beautiful”. Everyone was invited to send in their videos to have the chance to be part of the video. The deadline ended on Friday and already today we can show you an exclusive preview of the video. It will be published to the rest of the world next week.

The video was directed by Danish-Finnish artist Lars Filopo, a long term Roxette fan and a good friend of the TDR team, so we asked him out a bit.

TDR: Lars, first of all congratulations to the new video, it looks awesome!

Lars: Thank you! I’m really happy you like it. It has been a tremendous job to look through all these lovely videos the fans had sent in.

TDR: How did you get the job to direct this video in the first place?

Lars: Well, I was available, ha ha. Nah, I had worked with Per on another video before, a project I cannot reveal yet, and we liked each other, it seems.

TDR: How many videos did you get for the NYB project?

Lars: Oh, I really cannot count them. Way too many so we had to sort many of them out. Sorry. This song is only 4 minutes long, so in order not to make it look like a Charlie Chaplin-movie we simply had to select.

TDR: Chaplin is one of your big idols though…

Lars: Oh yes! Maybe that’s why the greater part is in black and white!

TDR: I see. What was the basic idea?

Lars: You know, this is about table tennis and then again it isn’t. I wanted to show this in my video. There is a lot of tennis and table tennis in it, I just hope not too much though. It was tough to find the right balance. It is very retro but then again we used a lot of digital effects. Actually most of the film is computer generated.

TDR: Yes, impressive work, if you ask me. Per had asked to send in horizontal videos only. Out of pure interest, how many vertical videos did you get?

Lars: Way too many so those became those videos we sadly had to say Farewell to for the moment. But if the response is good enough, we may think about a follow-up version just for smartphones with vertical videos only. Time will tell…

TDR: Thanks, great talk, as always. Let’s enjoy the final video now!
