The guitars have been crashed

As Per has said, “Have A Nice Day” is less guitar-based and more hi-tech. The overall sound of the new album is very smooth and peaceful. A lot of strings are used, both real and sythetic. If you liked “Vulnerable” or the ballads on Per’s solo album, you’ll probably like this album too.

Michael Ilbert has brought in the buzzing guitars and Christoffer Lundquist the heavy bass guitar wall. Nice.

  1. Crush On You

Roxette’s new sound can be heard on this track. Drum machine beat and synthesizer melody. The lyrics are kinda funny.
  2. Wish I Could Fly

Everybody has probably heard this one already. A bit similar to “Spending My Time”, but that doesn’t make it bad.
  3. You Can’t Put Your Arms Around What’s Already Gone

Could be from Gessle solo album. Per sings the whole song.
  4. Waiting For The Rain

Back to the 60’s. This song is unique to Roxette so far: the English lyrics are Marie (she has also composed this one).
  5. Anyone

The best song on the album. Need I say more?
  6. It Will Take A Long, Long Time

When I heard the intro with only Marie’s voice and an acoustic guitar, I thought this one’s something different. Nevertheless, after the first verse this sounds like all the other ballads on the album.
  7. 7twenty7

Roxette meets Republica. Drum beat is pumping at the background and the strong electric guitars are almost drowning Per’s voice. Also reminds me of the 70’s hit “Rasputin”…
  8. I Was So Lucky

A saxophone solo is rather uncommon to Roxette. The intro sounds like Pet Shop Boys. A beautiful song.
  9. Stars

Hmm… what can I say? This one was a real surprise. You can’t know if this is E-type or Roxette. They have come a long way from “Neverending Love”.
  10. Salvation

This is beautiful. But it doesn’t really stand out in the middle of all the other ballads on this album.
  11. Pay The Price

1-2-3-4! Puts your feet moving. I think this one was the only track with a guitar solo.
  12. Cooper

It seems that Per has been listening to Nick Cave & Kylie Minogue’s duet “Where The Wild Roses Grow”. “Cooper” is a tragic song with beautiful strings and Per singing.
  13. Staring At The Ground

This was quite nice. This one could be a Alanis Morrissette song, I think.
  14. Beautiful Things

“Beautiful Things” would suit very well on Marie’s “I en tid som vår” album. I didn’t really like that “Have A Nice Day” ends with Marie asking something like “Is there anyone listening anymore?”.
