Per to release not one but two new albums

Personal, poetic, Per. Two new solo albums out soon on Space Station 12!

En vacker natt (A Beautiful Night) out April 28 and En vacker dag (A Beautiful Day) out September 1. The first single is out March 17 and is called “Småstadsprat” (Small Town Talk), a duet with Swedish pop/singer-songwriter Lars Winnerbäck. Two other guests are Linnea Henriksson and Per’s old hero John Holm.
The albums have three duets each. Other titles are “Tittar på dej när du dansar” (Watching You While You’re Dancing) and “Allt gick så fort” (It All Went So Fast). The latter is about how life passed you by so quickly.
“And even though these albums are Swedish, they both end with duets in English, with two female country singers, Savannah Church and Jessica S. This is my homage to Nashville” says Per.

Most of the songs were written after Roxette retired from touring in the spring of 2016.

“All of a sudden my schedule was open, so I started sketching some material of my own again. The records in Swedish are holy to me. The lyrics are really very important, not to say central. They’re about things that we all go through: the transience of life; our hopes, dreams and disappointments; how your era and generation shape the person you become. Each song tells a story of its own. The music is of course equally important. It’s the magical fusion between words and music that makes sure that a song gets stuck in the head and the heart of the listener.” concludes Per Gessle.

En vacker natt:

1. Min plats
2. Första pris (Helena Josefsson)
3. Småstadsprat (Lars Winnerbäck)
4. Enkel resa
5. Allt gick så fort
6. Tittar på dej när du dansar
7. Några glas rosé
8. Far Too Close (Savannah Church)

The album is listed as vinyl as well.

Don’t know why he is going that way… only 8 songs on each record? c’mon this could be easily one record or he should release it straight away as a double album. But why wait half a year with the release of 8 new songs that will probably be in the same style as the first one? For me It would have make more sense if the first one is in swedish and the second one in english. That would be very interesting to hear (sound- and lyricwise). Let’s wait and see how it will end up but I guess the first one will be more successful. Fans will buy it anyway but the mainstream don’t get this kind of step he is going with two records within half a year in the same style.

      i agree

    • Kimie Shimabukuro

A double album would be better indeed, imo.

No? Robyn did this back in 2010. She relesased not 2, but 3 albums during the same year, with the same style. It was so succesful and original.

great per always at work!! can’t wait for new album. I think the choice to do two albums where the first contains only 8-track is entirely commercial. If an artist to publish a single album with 20 songs would sell xx copies, doing separate albums sell the album twice! it is not nice to say, but I think so. Here in Italy also marco mengoni has done such a thing. probably depends on the label, the artist can not even agree

Interesting with the new influences. It feels a bit too open somehow. Looking forward to hearing it, and physical releases in jewel cases please.
Agreed that it could be a double cd album, with day and night themes fitting into one package, it could be a beautiful one.
With 8 songs could do a 45 speed vinyl 🙂
    B/W photos, was it Anton?

1 or 2 albums? … doesn’t matter at all — in times of streaming/Spotify. Looking forward to those new songs.

I really like the cover. Per said the girl on the photo is his sister, who recently passed away. Kind of emphasizes that this album’s going to be pretty personal when it comes to the lyrics.
