Copies of “Look Sharp!” surface with “new” cover

Written by Lars-Erik_Olson on April 23, 2003 to .

NEW YORK (UPDATED) - Jewel case packages of “Look Sharp!” are on sale in the United States where, by mistake, the cover booklet was inserted reverse-side-up and the now-classic Mikael Jansson photographic image of Marie and Per lounging against a black limo – along with their “autographs” – shows through as the cover art.

A spokesperson at EMI knew of no intentional change to the cover, and the number of units affected is unknown. The catalog number is CDP-7-91098-2.

TDR apologizes for any confusion in first reporting this as an intentional re-issue. We didn’t allow for the possibility of a mistake in the production line. TDR reader Matthias contributed to the clarification.

If you don’t open the security wrapping (the way CDs are sold in the US), I also think it has potential value for a collector. It depends on how many units were produced this way... and entire production run, or only a portion of it.

LOL. I’m suprised it’s still in production in the USA, considering they can barely even put out a few copies of ’The Ballad Hits.’

Duh...where have you guys been? This isn’t the first time that this has happened. When I was in college I worked for a music chain Blockbuster Music and recieved a lot of CDs...also I remember even seeing the Look Sharp cover turned inside out quite a few times. Even today I still see the cover turned inside out...hmmmm...I always had thought people had seen this.

I’ve actually seen worse...I’ve opened up jewel cases and there would be no Cd inside...it happens!

Any fan who would buy a CD just because the cover is backwards must seriously fall into the “get a life” category...I mean I know people who have bought 7 copies of WICF because of slightly different covers, but this is just ridiculous!

:O surprise! My “Look sharp” CD became a collector item all of a sudden! How come? I turned the cover the other way round :DDDD

Oh well... That’s fine! :-)

I finally contributed to the clarification *grin*

I just didn’t make sense to me...
But that’s life!

Have a nice day! And don’t forget to reverse your covers ;-)

It looks strange to everyone because the cover we all know, was printed first.
If the mistake this cover was the original, no one would have said jack shit at the time of it’s release in 1989.

I think it looks quite good, a collectable.

The album was released in ’89 in the US. Where did you find it in ’86? ;)
@Ted: That call # is the same as the original CD released in 1989 so there is absolutely nothing new with this one. Probably just a newly pressed batch. (Which in itself may be interesting.)

When I’ve purchased the Italian release of LS! (my old Durch got scratched in the player badly in a circle) it was also bend the different way around!
True, Marie and Per photo was at the backside. Besides the sleeve of Italian thing is much lighter in color (not so yellowish) and they have slightly different backsleeve. Am I having a rarity then, duh? ;)

Oh my God and I forgot that “Joyride” on the CD I bought is written slightly diagonally benath “Roxette”, but not parallel. Is that rarity too? ;)
