Per: “New ballad untypical for Roxette”

STOCKHOLM - According to Per, the new ballad from Roxette, “A Thing About You”, will be untypical for Roxette. “It has an acoustic guitar and a cello. And I’m singing. Usually it’s Marie who’s singing ballads.”
The video for the song will be shot in Stockholm about two weeks from now. It will be directed by Jonas Åkerlund, who has directed many of Roxette’s previous videos, including “Wish I Could Fly” and “The Centre Of The Heart.”
“A Thing About You” will be served to radio stations on September 9th, and available in retail stores on October 14th.

That’s a surprise, I was 100 percent sure Marie would sing the new song! Maybe she joins Per in the chorus. Guitar and Cello, sounds really classy but you never know. The EPs are a great idea, makes the compilations worth a lot to old fans too!

I’m also very surprised and even a bit shocked. I was also completely sure that it would be a ballad with Marie doing the vocals. Well, I agree that a Per-ballad is okay as an album track. Actually I don’t mind his singing on “Vulnerable”, this song is not one of my favourites because I think it’s in general rather boring.

Personally I was very happy to read that it’s Per who’ll sing this song, ’cos I really really love Per’s ballads. Okey, Marie are sooo good at it, but Per’s ballads always had a special place in my heart. So... is it anyone else who come to think about NOTP here? By the way: I DON’T CARE IF ITS GOING TO BE A HIT!!!!!!!!! THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS THAT I LOOOOOOVE THE SONG!!!!!!!!!!! If a song climbes up to no. 1 in these days it doesn’t mean that it’s a good song...charts are all fake. Lot’s of artists are BUYING their chartpositions! Forget charts...

Vulnerable was and is a good song like it or not. If Per would have released it when he was supposed to (Joyride album) it would have been a mega hit(at least here in the States) Those types of ballads were all over the radio that year (1991/92). It’s a shame that we haven’t even heard the song yet and you guys (supposedly Roxette fans) are already “dissin’” the song.

Excluding the US release, its been 7 years since a greatest hits album. Im sure people would rather buy a new album of greatest hits, than one that is 7 years old.
Us fans buying the new album make up a tiny percentage from sales. The idea is to get people who are not fans to buy the album, and if that means digging up old songs again to refresh peoples memory to who Roxette is again and to show there still around I think is a good idea the more I think about it.
And U2 have released a few dud albums too,some real crap, and they havent had hit after hit.
Per singing a ballad is a good change, there must be a good reason for Per singing it. He must just sing it better than Marie :) Im sure he knows what he is doing.
When do you think this song will be snuck out to the internet? Early September when radio starts to get it? I want it now! :P

especially on cds he’s able to hold tunes...since there’s enough technique existing to help musicians=>so ATAY is going to sound perfect (at least in the voice-context).
to all others: vulnerable is a great song! i don’t like cooper that much, but Per is singing it VERY well... .

i remember when per was singing in gyllene tider and he was like a huge swedish super star/teen idol and marie was struggling to make it big with a solo career. for fuck sake if it wasnt for per marie would not have international success because she doesnt write english lyrics. yes alot of people probably think “the look” wouldnt have been sung if she wasnt there, but hey you never know! gyllene tider released ” the heartland cafe” so they might have had a “look sharp” album in 1989 if marie wasent there!

Now when that is off my chest let me also tell you guys something when we talk about a TEAM then in a team there is NO I, ME, US it is always “WE”. What am I saying? DON’T Compare Per with Marie or Marie with Per. When you are working under the ROXETTE label you can’t differentiate in both as if an album becomes a major hit then the credit would go to Roxette, people would love Roxette. If it fails people won’t like Roxette, NOT Per, NOT Marie but Roxette.
Remember the “BRAIN” (Per) can’t function without a “HEART”(Marie) and vise versa. So people PLEASE do NOT differentiate between Per and Marie.
