STOCKHOLM (Updated) - Per Gessle seems to be in a great mood lately, here's another note from The Man:
Another day, another record!
Spent the afternoon, sipping coffee and eating English muffins at Cutting Room meanwhile mastering the demo-CD. What does it sound like, someone asked on the bus? Well, it sounds like… hmmm… like a demo-CD!
We’ve managed to squeeze in three additional tracks so now the entire album can be enjoyed in its early glory! This is the final running order:
The Demos according to Gessle
1. There is my baby (June 27, 1994)
2. I’ll be alright (July 16, 1994)
3. June afternoon (July 17, 1994)
4. Writer (July 17, 1994)
5. T-t-t-take it! (Sep 12, 1994)
6. Elvis in Germany (Nov 2, 1994)
7. Every day outside my window (Dec 28, 1995)
8. Love doesn’t live here (Feb 25, 1996)
9. Detective Jones (Feb 29, 1996)
10. Beautiful things, terrible things (Apr 7, 1996)
11. Elvis in Deutschland (Apr 26, 1996)
12. Makin’ love to you (acoustic version) (June 9, 1996)
13. Lay down your arms (June 23, 1996)
14. Do you wanna be my baby? (Aug 12, 1996)
15. B-Any-1-U-Wanna-B (Oct 24, 1996)
16. Stupid (Oct 28, 1996)
17. Saturday (Nov 2, 1996)
18. Wish you the best (Nov 3, 1996)
19. I want you to know (Dec 28, 1996)
20. Kix (Jan 2, 1997)Cheers, P.
Update: technical issues (the damn record is too long!!!) we have had to delete the kix (lovely pair remix) from the cd… shit happens. you'll have to do the twist to reporter instead!

hmm now I’m not too sure if I understand it right. so this is the demo CD and will there be another CD with original TWATG + b-sides where “Elvis in Germany”, “I’ll be alright” & “T-t-t-take it!” will be altered with Battery studios-mixes?

Yes, this is CD2 in the double set.

I hope the “Demo-Sound” will be really rough and edgy, lots of guitars and pounding drums! That´s what I call fun!!!!

Looking really forward to get this CD. The tracklist looks great. I have allway found the demos by PG very interesting. It gives insight to both his songwriting and how a song evolve.

I wonder why he changed his mind about “Writer”?
Looks good though!

It would be great to have it! So nice of Per to present the CD himself:))

This release keeps getting better and better and better! The best thing to come out of Mr G for years!! Hopefully he’s getting the feel for guitars and power pop again for Roxette :-)

Nice! I wonder if all the 1994 (and 1995?) demos were written for Roxette in the first hand. Just used for the solo record when it became obvious that rox would be on break?

What really impresses me is how Per seems as enthusiastic about this release as the fans are. It’s not often that musicians with such a large back catalogue will put so much energy into the re-release of a 10-year-old album. I feel it proves Per’s commitment to his fans - Not simply because he’s giving us rare demos or B-Sides, but because he seems so pleased to be working on something that will mainly appeal to his long-term fans.

I think its me only that hates demos lol, They are the weaker rough ideas for the final song ! well hope you all enjoy :-S

Good point there Chris!! I couldn’t see many other artists doing this and spending this much time making sure it’s gonna please as many people as possible! It’s just a shame that this release is going to bomb everywhere really. This album, even today, sounds so good when you’re driving!! Def one of my Top 3 albums of all time!!

I’m not a Roxette know-it-all, but I can’t forget reading the original press release for “The World According To Gessle” a few years ago. It was the most entertaining PR I’ve ever read, he’s such a good reporter ;-) although Gessle probably thinks it’s rubbish now. If he can even remember writing it. If he even wrote it. :)
CRIZ said on March 13, 2008 18:31:
Yeah..how funny is that?? A planned normal re-release turned out to be sort of a release of unknown mixes and demos....Per you rule!
Sascha said on March 13, 2008 19:35:
It’s great that Per puts so much interest and energy into this re-release! I honestly think that Per moved more and more away from this kind of Powerpop sound in the last years, even saying he doesn’t want to show (musical) muscle in the EHM songs. Maybe this indicates some change of direction for him?

As for June afternoon, is it going to be any different from what weäve been given on June afternoon single? At tlease the date is the same, so? Similarly with Love doesnt live here? Or are these totally unheard demos? The release is going to be yummy it seems. Come May, please! Thanks PeGe!

This is huge now!!! to excited to get the album as fast as possible. Sascha, yeah, it’s nice this powerpop-gessle again!
carbon_boy said on March 14, 2008 06:35:
Wouldn’t you also be excited re-releasing such an amazing piece of music history? This is truly one of the greatest albums ever written!
Thanx MrG!
tevensso (moderator) said on March 14, 2008 06:58:
No the previously released demos are most certainly the same.
RobS said on March 14, 2008 22:43:
Well that’s no big deal, was never a fan of the lovely pair mix.
Too bad there is no demo of Kix.. i think that would have been interesting.
NigelBarnes said on March 14, 2008 22:50:
Now I want a ’The Tour According to Gessle’ - KIx to open as I let Per know some months back!
tevensso (moderator) said on March 14, 2008 23:02:
The last track on CD2 is the Kix demo.
Zargo said on March 15, 2008 04:58:
Well, at least they didn’t have to get rid of anything good :)
gyllene_tjej said on March 15, 2008 07:10:
I dont mind the deletion of Kix. Im not fond of mixes, good that the deom stays though!
