why we can't edit our post?

For me(!) this is a bad thing, because I am never satisfied with what I wrote. All the time I find typos and other things that could have been written in a better way! *sigh*
Another issue: sometimes you don’t need a new post, when an EDIT would be enough to clarify things. :-)

How can be that pointless “reply” button on EVERY comment, but not the “edit” button??
Or there are some sense in these bottons?
Still noone tells us about advantages
of Drupal.

Honestly, if visiting TDR causes you so much trouble and distress and whatever in your life, you might want to consider not visiting it anymore. You do have that option.
Let me also remind you this is a free (for everybody else but Visa) hobby website and we do it because we want to. Also how we want to. Take this as you want, it has always been like that and it won’t change unless we decide to offer an IPO ;)

There were few changes here and I never complaint about anything ,more than 6 years. Sorry i didn’t want to insult you or to be ungrateful for the work that all you did and keep doing ,just ponting some problems.

You get answers according to your posts. I don’t think your posts (demands?) were polite or not childish, but lets leave it like that. We have no problems with people telling what they think and we have added/changed many things after their feedback since the new site was launched, but there are comments and comments.
The forum is working fine, the fact that one cannot edit his post once it has been answered to is not an error as you assume, it’s a setting in the forum.
Many forums don’t allow that you edit your posts (ANY post) after 15-20 minutes of posting - I also think it makes sense because if there’s an answer, the answer is to the post as it was. We had more than one case of people editing their posts to “-” after having 10 answers below it and nobody knew what was going on anymore.
Now there’s the option to preview your comment, so you have the option to re-think it as many times as you want before you hit the “post” button.

Editing was very useful for collecting information in single posts – for example contact & voting adresses, chart info – to keep the text bundled and clear. Consider that TDR updates news articles as well, even if there are already loads of comments based on the earlier version.
A function that I’d find very useful is a setting to view the latest page of threads by default (what many forums have), since the “xx new posts” button has no functionality at all for me.

I actually quite like the fact that you cant edit a post after someone has replied. It means that people cant go back on what they have said, which quite often happens (not necessarily on this forum) after someone proves them wrong. It means people will have to be more careful about what they post and not flame people unnecessarily and then retract it later.

I hold it with @ncurran. There are people who abuse the edit button and make a reasonable discussion impossible. Though for correcting typos etc. maybe there should be a way of allow editing for like 10 minutes after posting. Personally, I tend to see my own typos first on the board.

I can understand why there isn’t an edit button, too many people went back and deleted their comments out of an entire thread after they felt “insulted”. Too much childish behaviour there. I’ve had my fair share of tiffs here, nothing new. But I’d rather have the edit button to go back and maybe add something to correct something I screwed up on. Especially if I missed “information” that should have been in the original post.
This is just me.

6.After we hit “post comment” we were send to first page,not to the last one..
You may say that this isn’t “wrong” and “I also think it makes sense ” but as with “edit function” ,it wasn’t that way in the old TDR and it isn’t that way in the forums in which you are moderator..
So i guess we have the right for explanation or at least “we trying” answer...
Lets make TDR “the greatest place on the WWW” again!

With all respect ,but having in mind all lack of functions of reply field , the ““Preview comment” button ” is quite senseless.
If you “if you accidently wrote something wrong” you can see it without “Preview comment” button.
In other modern forums which easy allowed to put pictures,url,smiles and so on ijn your replys, Preview button give us a totaly different picture.

it’s so stange and confusing...
It actually it coud happend to everyone cos ,the people after you may answer to another person or to the subject .. and then you can edit your post at any time..
