Roxette documentary on TV4

STOCKHOLM (Updated) - As per usual Swedish TV4 will have a Gessle-related program at the end of the year. This time they will broadcast the brand new documentary "Roxette - 20 år" (Roxette - 20 years), about the 20th anniversary, on December 29 19:30 CET. The half-hour show will be re-run December 31.
Using previously not shown and unique footage from, among others the Gessle family's private camcorder, Roxette's progress from a small band touring the Swedish countryside via the breakthrough with "The Look" in the US, to the big venues in both South Africa and Argentina is shown.
In the documentary Marie and Per tell about the historical gig in China where Roxette as the second western band ever (Wham! was the first) was allowed to perform in Beijing. They also talk about the reunion after Marie's sickness.

Great news :-D
Really Roxette was made by SVT, not TV4.

Yeah, me too: I really hope that this documentary will appear somewhere on the net. Would it be too much to ask for subtitles (from TV4) ’cos there’s no way the documentary is in English... That reminds me of the book about Per, which will surely be in Swedish too. I wish there were more Swedish courses where I live:))

Do you thing it will be so big document as Making Of Joyride and Really Roxette? It´s ten years since last one. 20th anniversary deservers big format. I have an idea: 50 minutes long document Rox 20 incl. Aerosol story from this June, The Making of One Wish video, some interviews with P & M and people around them, some video memories from early 80s till today, all milestones of their way. With One Wish and Reveal (if there will be any) videos. Oh, this would be great material for new DVD. Don´t you think?
PS: I have GT and Mazarin DVD and they are great. I want something similar from Roxette. There will never be better opportunity than this year?

It seems TV4 is producing this themselves so it could go either way really. My guess is that it won’t be that great. We’ll see.

My guess is documentary is mostly memories and highlights from 80’s till today, and of course Per’s and Marie’s interview.

Oh cool!
By the way, there was supposed to be a Roxette document on MTV3 here in Finland on Nov 27th; However, it was cancelled. It was mentioned in various magazines & tabloids. Don’t know what happened, it was half an hour long according to pre-details.
sille-rox said on December 13, 2006 22:52:
Hope the documentary is longer than 30 Minutes.

animalkingdom, as far as I know it was the same documentary we saw 2001, made here in Finland by MTV3. Remember?

nice news and perfect timing! Hope to see more current shots rather than old footage, but we’ll see. Well, it surely counts as a Xmas present :)

It should be supposedly broadcasted yesterday(December 13th) but due to that Discovery thing,it was be cancelled.

@ Mari
Ok, you could be right but I recall the 2001 documentary being 1 hour long...since they showed music videos in the middle of the interview, too...And I don’t see any point in broadcasting a 5,5 year old document for the 20th anniversary (??).
rosa_73 said on December 14, 2006 12:56:
Actually it’s a 40 min. documentary since when it should be broadcasted yesterday,it stayed from 21.00 until 21.40 on tv

tevensso (moderator) said on December 14, 2006 17:30:
40 min minus TV4’s 10 minutes of commercials...
sille-rox said on December 14, 2006 18:39:
40 minutes too few for 20 years. but, better than nothing.
Bananylopalabomba said on December 15, 2006 08:18:

I’ve tried reaching TV4 for more info, but that’s more or less impossible it seems.

I’m so looking forward to this documentary. I won’t give up and hope that there’s something interesting there :) But if it’s just 40 minutes long, well, that’s too short!!!
