Roxette’s performance on Bravo 50 to be pre-recorded

Written by tevensso on September 21, 2006 to .

COLOGNE - While Roxette will indeed be performing as part of the “50 Years Of Bravo” television special, The Daily Roxette has learned from EMI Germany that this segment of the show will be pre-recorded and not live and that Roxette will not be physically present at the gala.

“We don’t want to disappoint fans who buy tickets for the show because they think they will see Roxette live on stage,” said Christian Wißmann of EMI Music Germany to TDR late this afternoon.

Per and Marie’s segment will be recorded a day earlier in Hamburg, and then spliced into the show. “The television viewer will not be informed that Roxette was not actually there at the actual event,” says Wißmann, “but we want to let the fans know this.” Logistical conflicts prevent Roxette from being there to perform live during the show.

The show will be broadcast on October 21 on German TV channel Pro7.

Somehow funny and tragic at the same time..

*edit*

But they are in Germany around the 20th. So I guess it will be prerecorded at the same location as the show is or am I wrong?

Too late..thank you :(
When and where will it be recorded?? Maybe a day earlier?
And EMI didn’t know that from the very beginning?Am I allowed to be very disappointed now?

What a sad sad 20th birthday........ I don‘t know what to say even to think about it...

This probably means that they won’t go to Germany to promote GH20... They’ll record their performance in Sweden and then send the copy to Bravo Gala, I think...

But what about this schedule:

“20 oktober: Åker till Tyskland för att göra pr. Deltar bland annat i tysk tv.”

I don´t understand the problem!??? What´s wrong with a live performance? I thought Rox loves to be on stage in front of a big audience?

I´m very very sad!

Kiwein: Maybe to many things on one day? I don’t know..I’m sad! (friendly said!)

CRIZ: I am not even sad. The only thing I am thinking is that all this is sooo ridiculous. For me it’s time to say goodbye to Roxette. They’re physically dead and I finally realize that.

Oh everybody, I’m so sorry for everyone! Maybe you’ll all be able to watch ’em on a big TV!

What a joke - and what a sad end for Roxette as we knew it...

ETA: As for the reason - “logistical conflicts”? Yeah, sure, I believe that for.. hmm... no second!

Roxette, isn’t that the band who sees themselfes as a “live band”?

It’s better to know now than finding out during the show...
anyway, I think there should be some arrangement that we could return the tickets and get the money back. We were all wrongly informed (to put it friendly) on the website of Bravo50.

edit: just read that it’s ’due to logistical conflicts’...

“Logistical conflicts prevent Roxette from being there to perform live during the show.”

Sorry but I don‘t know if I can believe that... Which logistical reasons should there be??? Has anyone an explanation for me???????

Can´t believe it! :x

Oj Mr. Wißmann..than pleeeze be so nice and keep us informed on which other events they will be ...(of course you won’t, I know but I just had ONE WISH to give Per and Marie the support they deserve..and we don’t bite by the way)

hmm logistical problems?? Are all hotels booked? I could help you...not getting home that evening again?? I would drive you home!!! (okay.that would take 6 hours if you would sleep in Halmstad) ;)

While I have no information to base this on, I would indeed think that tickets could be refunded... even if it was Bravo themselves who would need to do it.

If I were the producers of this show, I would still want Roxette fans to be there... as they would still need to include cut-away shots of “excited fans” when Roxette was announced.

Understandably, fans who were looking forward to seeing Roxette perform live have written comments here, based upon their sense of personal disappointment. That part I understand completely. But to say “sad end for Roxette” or “Roxette are dead” lets that sense of personal disappointment grow way out of proportion into the realm of the ridiculous. Roxette are still going to Germany to do promotion... still going to be on a show that will be seen by thousands... still alive and kicking.

Nice and rational words LEO but I really disagree. How can a band sell records without doing a proper promotion? Even IF they decide to continue it’s not the same “Roxette” as it was before. And that’s at least what I meant with “physically dead” - since they won’t return to stage again. I am quite sure about that. Maybe they’ll do a studio album one day again, but they won’t return “physically” as I was used to see them.

If anybody knows exactly how to return the tickets and get the money back, please tell so.

I have tried to phone the “Kundenservice” of Eventim AG
(0049 (0)1805 570 064 (12 cent/min.)), but they can only be reached during office hours.

An other option I tried is the contactform on http://www.getgo.de Hopefully that helps.

Oh I just found out that Tokio Hotel and Take That will be there too...I guess I will find some people who want to have the tix ! >:)

LEO, that’s easy to say with your “TDR insider information” on what is yet to come - IF there is still something to come.

I was always one of those who thought that they’d still go on making music together. I don’t expect any more tours or performances but a nice studio album every now and then (maybe with the occasional promo performance thrown in) was what I had expected. Now it really seems that all this no longer makes sense and they could as well leave it...

All I’d like is an open word from both of them that they don’t want to/can’t care about the promo side of their job anymore (or that it’s really over). Everyone has to admit that it is a bit strange that Per does the promo all alone (like Nyhetsmorgon) - they could as well make it official that it will be like that from now on. (If I was Marie, I wouldn’t care much about anymore but I’d at least say that it is too much or not worth it.)

And on a side note, I don’t think I will ever warm up to liking OW, Reveal, Anyone demo or Myth as much as I liked the rest of their songs. I wouldn’t have thought the day would come that I’d ever feel like this, let alone type this down...

Thank God I didn’t get my mind up to attending this show...

@roxgirl_germany: You took the words right out of my mouth! That‘s exactly what I think.

In my opinion Per AND MARIE have to say whether they will split or they will continue. RIGHT NOW!!!

They always said they love their fans so now they have to be just that opened to say what we can expect and what not...

Oh, that’s really really sad!! And I’m sooo disappointed about that...

(And by the way: I’m also SHOCKED - that “Emi Germany” cares about Roxette fans! *no comment*)

I mean, Per and Marie always joined live shows in their career - without any “logistic” problems. So, what else is “more” important that day ?? Maybe a meeting with the swedish royal family? EVERY OTHER artist will be there. And what’s with Roxette??

What a dissuade....

Starrox (and others too), don’t you really know the reason why it’s gonna be pre-recorded? You really don’t know? I can’t believe you actually don’t know!

Let us share your thoughts, Mari.

Hang on, ’spliced’? Is that in the show or in the concert? So, what you could be saying is that people who are going to the concert may not even get to see the taped performance? Oh lordy lordy...

First I’d like to say that I feel really sad for all the fans that already bought tickets for the show just to see Roxette live. But I totally agree with what Lars-Erik said before.

The fact that Roxette won’t be at the ’actual live show’ is not a reason to say they don’t want to do promotion or anything. If Marie would not want to or would not be able to do some sort of promotion (including some interviews, video shoots and maybe live performances) they wouldn’t have started the whole ROX 20 thing at all.
We should always have in mind how severely ill Marie was and that it seems (at least to me) almost like a miracle that she recovered and goes on with Roxette. That alone makes me really, really happy.

So there could really be some circumstances that prevent them from being at the live show - nevertheless they’ll appear on German TV for the first time in years, as part of a show with a relatively young audience and supposedly a rather high popularity. That’s still very good and nobody of the regular watching TV audience will recognize that the gig was pre-recorded.

Taken together all this is more than most of us would have expected let’s say half a year ago.
My wish would be that we shall all be very happy that Marie and Per are back again, that they recoreded some (although for some of us not enough) new material and that ROXETTE IS DEFINITELY NOT DEAD!!!
