Rox20 releases get their own promotional website

Written by Lars-Erik_Olson on September 20, 2006 to .

STOCKHOLM - EMI is promoting the release of the Roxette Hits and RoxBox with a advertising campaign website built especially for this purpose.

The site, which is expected to occupy the Roxette.com domain, contains music clips, screensavers, photos, and a video “trailer” (commercial) that ends with Per and Marie speaking to the camera during the bowling alley photo shoot. You can also hear a snippet of the second new song, “Reveal,” from the music player on the website.

The site was designed by Flatmate, a creative agency that EMI Music Sweden is using to create all of their artist-related campaign sites. It is co-branded with Telia, the Swedish telephone company, as they have a service that offers digital downloads.

Not a bad bio... nice site, actually.

No problems on my Opera, IE and Firefox.

Yeah, finally something positive from EMI. And what about www.roxette.se? Hope this site will change.

This thread makes me thinking EMI will use www.roxette.com for this promotional roxette website:

Zargo, i don’t think they’re bored - maybe just tired after shooting some promo pics or something. I thought they looked great.

Did you see the smile on Marie’s face!

Wow that’s great stuff! Are we sure EMI were behind this, it seems to good ;)

Yeah well you’re probably right Rob, but you can tell it’s all a bit “been there done that” for them.

Interesting that in the add that every post SIMC single is represented by ’Stars.’

i really like reveal.....i just can’t stop listening to it...i think it’s much nicer than one wish...too bad is just a sample

i love reveal. very romantic and sexy.

Promoted? This is EMI website 101, meaning they always do this. Remember Mazarin and SOAP anyone? Depeche Mode etc. And frankly, it’s not THAT great is it?

Reveal is not that good in my opinion... Where is the passion??? You all know the passion that once was unstopable in the roxette songs... :)

OH! it’s really really wonderfull see Marie and Per together at the end of the video, I love Marie’s smile and Per looks cool and very handsome. Sun brights :) Roxette is here:))

And it’s Marie who says “we are Roxette”!! maybe she is ready to sing more songs for us in a few time! Cross fingers!

Well (Thomas)... yes actually. For what this is (intended to be), I think they’ve done a very nice job. The video “trailer” alone is worth the price of admission.

If I were EMI Sweden’s media director, I’d be pleased with what Flatmate (the vendor) delivered on this assignment.

The question really to me at least is what good is having a site like this, unless you’re able to attract the “casual” (for lack of a better term) Roxette fan to visit it.... the person, who as Per put it, doesn’t even know he’s a Roxette fan (which is their target audience with a site like this). You can build a beautiful website, but if it’s being done as part of a marketing effort, then you have to drive traffic there. As we all know, that’s not an easy thing to do.

lars you and i were thinking the same thing...what drives any artist through their career is they ability to attract more fans than their established fan base, or to re-attract fnas they may have lost for one reason or another over the years. When i was in ny during their promotour for the usa hits package we met many peopel who thought roxette had broken up, i remember meeting one guy who was a huge elton john fan who had never heard of roxette and was really captivated by how good they were live. The question begs, wouldn’t a media campagain...mostly television and radio be more effective than dumping money into internet ventures which emi has a noted history of abandoning after an album has passed its 2 month promo blitz? Roxette.se is a prime example of that. Yeah I am sure marie isn’t up to the promotion jauggernaut roxette demands, but emi can find creative avenues around that, I just often wonder if they are that interested to even try. It’s a great effort, great to see marie, and per...i just hope this isn’t the limit to the extent emi is going with this

Hi, yeah, great site. And the two songs are great, and hope this is the beginning for more Roxette recordings.

GREAT SITE. But i hope EMI will do something similar here in ARGENTINA because when i click to buy the cd...it´s luch the CD ON site...and it doesn´t ship to South america.

DOES ANYONE KNOW ANOTHER PAGE FOR BUYING INTERNATIONAL?

The site is very cute and I like the design. The promo trailer is very nice too, Marie looks better there than in the One Wish video. I’d like a more comprehensive bio, because the one I read doesn’t mention the albums (the titles, at least) they have released through these 20 years. They are still focusing in the 4 US #1’s, but I’d like to see HAND, RS and the latest stuff are mentioned too. It’s good to see ABBA got some credit too, seems like Per has finally recognized they were a good band! I like the pararelism ABBA-Roxette, because there are many points in common. It’s great to see EMI is doing ANYTHING for Roxette, and not just putting the records in the racks, and expecting they sell by themselves.

The wallpapers are beautiful. I’d like a new, up-dated skin for the Windows Media Player (I still use the “Pop Hits” one!)

I find rather strange the “Latin version” of the HITS was not listed either. I got an email from EMI Argentina, and they said a Spanish track might be included, but they have no cofirmation about which one. They only have the tracklist of the standard version.

Unreal, according to EMI Argentina, both the “Roxette Hits” and “The Rox-Box” will be released in late October or early November. Just be patient.

The screensaver points to:

www.roxette.com

LOL

Every mistake imaginable

That’s no mistake. Looks like the site will move into roxette.com soon. :-)

Hope EMI release the box in Brazil :D I’m crossing my fingers.

Finally roxette.com will be updated and will have the Rox20 info and material.

I like how the songs on the Rox20 site follows the GH CD tracklisting.

Take care!
