“Hey Mr DJ” next Swedish single

Written by tevensso on December 28, 2005 to .

STOCKHOLM - Per writes on Son of a Plumber.com today that the next Swedish single will be “Hey Mr DJ (Won’t You Play Another Love Song)” with an anticipated radio date of mid-January. The b-side is a “rehearsal medley” so to speak, called “Plumber in Progress #1.” “This will feature Gabriel and me jamming on ’Substitute,’ lousy guide lyrics beyond belief to several songs, etc etc.,” Per comments.

The in-store date is yet to be decided by EMI, but “they are all still busy eating Christmas pudding and drinking ale,” according to Per.

Yeah - I would have said this or substitute! Good good! :)

Not me - I would have chosen “I Like It Like That” (unless of course Per and Marie are planning to re-record it for a future Roxette project (-: ). I’ll admit though that “ILILT” is a Roxette song and “Hey Mr. DJ” is a lot more representative of the SoaP album... let’s hope it’s a smash anyway!

That B-side sounds really interesting I think!!

Perfect choice. “Hey Mr Dj” is the best song in SOAP.

Puuaagg!I don’t like this song.I think it’s a very bad choise.

LOL. Horrible choice for a single. People will fall asleep if played in the radios! If this song is the best of the album (like someone said) I wonder which one is the worst!

I disagree. I think its one of the best songs on the album. I dont know why people are going on about “Substitute”. I think that song is bloody awful

I think the song will make more people curious about the Soap projekt. People who don’t like Pers music may like the song because it doesn’t sound so Gesslish.

And this must give Helenas carrier a real boost !

i think that it is very good choice. Great song with great melody, even my father likes it :)

Open your eyes, or learn to read again. I am not the only ONE that dislikes this song, don’t you read the other comments? Don’t be so narrow minded.

Your comment is not totally accurate coming from a moderator (as usual).

Well, it hard to find a song that everybody will like, in that case the whole music business would be senseless as every single=smashing hit :) so don’t be so pesimistic RoomService.

Yea Room_Service.. ! Look at it from the bright side, since you’re in Argentina you’re far away from swedish radio and you won’t hear HMDJ and you won’t fall asleep !

If its a horrible single then you dont buy it, simple as - not moan and still buy it ;)

It’s interesting, but most people in here tend to like Mr DJ or “I Like It Like That”.

And besides, the sleeve note we saw before on the SOAP site, always said that Mr. DJ, “I Like It Like That” and Substitute would be the singles to follow Jo-Anna Says and C’mon. So, there’s not really any surprise. Furthermore, the song is cool. It’s just a song people wouldn’t expect from Per. Well, but then again, most of the songs in the able are like that. :-)

Just hope that if SOAP ever sees the light in the US, Jo-Anna Says and “I Like It Like That” are the main singles.

Happy New Year, guys and gals!

Take care!
SOAP on!

Great choice ... Helena’ll catch everybody’s attention. I think it’s one of the best songs on the album as well, in the Top 3.

Wonder which one will be the first international single release. I don’t think Hey Mr DJ would be OK because everyone’s gonna say Helena is Marie’s replace. I’d like it to be “C’mon”, it’s the freshest song of the album.

Happy 2006!

Hey Mr DJ = Dull as dish water.

Doomed to fail...

...although, probably will do well in Swedne.

Oh my... what‘s wrong with Per and all this SOAP proyecT! Come on.. Hey Mr dj...? what kind of lame single is that :s not even mention the fact of Helena in a duet with Per on the radios?.. hope is gonna be a GREAT FLOP :)
well let‘s face it never ever cared about this proyect. I think im a bit mad due to helena‘s thing,, nothing wrong about her just cant stand her..

I don’t like the song that much...

...but I guess they have chosen HMD because probably could sell more than ILILT, considering fans of Sandy Mouche and Rox/Per’s fans buying the single...instead of Per’s fans only...”maybe just maybe”.

And “maybe just maybe” another reason is to increase Helena’s audience...(“the outstanding talent”....pfuì... :-| )

ILILT is more a Rox song and it doesn’t fit completely the soap feelings...even if we prefer this song (as roxette fans).

btw, every song on this album is so different, it’s very hard to make a choice. :S

and btw2, I really look forward for the b-side, I’m really curious to listen how it sounds Gee into the plumbing process... ;)

International hit for sure!

There are several reason I can see why “Hey Mr DJ” has been chosen for release, and it could well be a hit in Sweden. But it’s only just inside my top 20 songs on the album and I don’t think it’s strong enough to break the international market. There are many excellent songs on the album, including the first two tracks, but in my opinion the one song that has the potential to make SOAP a big success in Europe is “I Like It Like That” – utter class. Just my opinion, as always. All the best, Rich ;-)

I do like Hey Mr DJ, but I don’t think it will do anything released abroad. It’s a nice song, but a little to old fashioned, especially for UK. ILILT would be a better choice i think

I tried to make tell everyone these news after the signing-session in STHLM, ’cos per told me that “Hey Mr DJ” would be the next single back then, but no onte published the news... how come?

@ Sanglof

Maybe it wasn’t that certain back then (no record company back up, for instance). And I don’t think it would have been the first time they changed their minds. :)

Anyway, Hey Mr DJ is definitely not among my favourites on the album. Neither is I Like It Like That. But I rather see DJ being the single than the other “general favourite”.

If ILILT doesn’t fit the SOAP album, why then, is it in the album anyway?
And also, why was it chosen as one of the singles according to the sleeve note we have seen before on the SOAP site?

Maybe ILILT is being held for release elsewhere, where Mr. DJ would not thrive. There;s always a reason.

Take care!
