Gyllene Tider starts celebrating 25
Written by tevensso on February 27, 2004 to Gyllene Tider.
STOCKHOLM -
Gyllene Tider is beginning the celebration of their 25th anniversary by re-releasing their first three LPs – “Gyllene Tider,” “Moderna Tider” and “Puls” – with re-mastered tracks. At the same time, they’re releasing a new CD: “GT 25 - Samtliga Hits!” (“GT 25 - All the Hits!”) [Incidently the same title as the subtitle of the last two greatest hits albums, released in 1989 and 1995.] This album will be relased both as a digi-pack (5769602) and in a normal jewel case (5769592). The scheduled release date is March 24th.
While it hasn’t been officially announced, The Daily Roxette has reported previously that Per and others have talked about new material that they are recording, so the widespread expectation is that a new album/single/EP will be released later in the spring, just in time to help promote the tour.
Yes, the summer of 2004 will see Gyllene Tider tour the country of Sweden again. It’s been eight years since they toured with “Återtåget” in 1996… a tour so successful that in Stockholm they had to move from a open-air venue outside of the Naval History Museum (where the Marie Fredriksson concert DVD was filmed) to the Stadion arena as 35,000 people wanted to see the band! Now, everyone in Sweden will have the chance again to experience the band live. The journey in time will continue - with Gyllene Tider playing for a new generation of fans.
Update March 1: “Kung av sand” was mistakenly omitted from the tracklist.

Another “Best Of”. But HEY, this time, its remastered!
EMI knows, how to get money from their customers over and over again for the same OLD songs.
Not anymore, thanks...
Judith (moderator) said on February 27, 2004 14:52:
hej! we even have to thank them this time for not including unreleased songs in the yet another compilation ;)
This made my day!

Right Judith!
Anyway, looking forward to the tour!

Thank you EMI, Per, etc. that I can save my money and don’t have to by a new CD. Now guess why!
Mary said on February 27, 2004 18:52:
Oh c’mon, where have all the promised new tracks gone? And why do they want to release the first GT album again? That one was already rereleased in 2000.
tevensso (moderator) said on February 27, 2004 19:03:
According to the record # this is the Gyllene Tider digi-pack that was released in 2000. But as said so many times before, don’t buy the records if you don’t like them. There will be the new single/EP/album to get so get just that then and be satisfied. Please.
Judith (moderator) said on February 27, 2004 19:55:
will be cheaper to get an EP/Single than a CD anyway ;)

This is taking the piss big STYLE...

Greatest hits again???????? They could at least use a cover with a brand new picture or?...but I didnt’ expect notging new if you see all those last Roxette collections.
It’s boring all this.
grisu said on February 27, 2004 20:26:
It took me two years to find the last best of CD .
This time it won´t be worth searching.

Ferdan said on February 27, 2004 20:48:
well, good there’s no new songs in the compilation
They screwed the albums by making them double CDs!!!
Resellers add too much to the price when it’s 2 cds. :(
HummingBird said on February 27, 2004 21:25:
cool, this way I’ll actually have more money for concert tickets - great!
Roxlander said on February 27, 2004 21:50:
I guess I’m the only one happy here, because I don’t have any Gyllene CD (except THC), so maybe this is my chance to get them. I say “maybe” because all depends of their prices :(
gyllene_tjej said on February 27, 2004 21:57:
the releases suck biiig time. :(
I am only waiting for the EP then, hoping the songs will breathe in some new positive energy!!
roxtexanet said on February 27, 2004 22:22:
Of course, with the possible exception of Roxlander, these reissues aren’t being released for the benefit of a single person on this page...
I wish those of you who bother to get upset by these things would step back for a second and think about who the target audience for these re-releases might be. The sooner you realise these releases are intended for the general Swedish public and not for you - the big Gyllene Tider fan - the happier you will be. It’s downright shocking to me that they DIDN’T include the new songs on the reissues to boost their sales, and I can only assume that this is because the band wanted to distance their former selves from their current selves, and not piss off loyal fans who would have to fork out for a full price CD just to get the new songs. I’m just surprised that EMI allowed them to do it.

knowing how many people have bought the past compilations + albums in the “big GT times” .. I wonder who is left in Sweden to buy these albums :D
Roxfever said on February 27, 2004 23:49:
You are right on the one hand, the albums are not for us, the hardcore fans. BTW, I’m not a hardore fan of GT at all, I don’t have any GT album. Ok, neverthelass I know the songs:-) Although I’m not realy a GT fan I was looking forward to a new album anyway. Probably I was expecting too much. I think the problem is that we just got tooooooooo many best-offs, except Per’s Mazarin. The release is great for those who don’t have the album yet. But how many people don’t have it yet? Me and maybe 20 others. Wow, so it will also be released for me. I should be be a bit more grateful ;-)
Yes, we don’t have to buy it but again, this is not about buying or not buying it. If you count the discussions about buying or not you will see how often we had to be tolerant in the near or not so near past. Tolerance is ok, but how much tolerance has been expected form us for such a long time? I’m just sick of being tolerant.
daniel_alv said on February 28, 2004 00:13:
i think the strangest thing is that they have faller ner på knä included and kung av sand excluded
harriej said on February 28, 2004 00:31:
I think indeed, as mentioned before, that these re-releases are for the new fans, who don’t hafve any GT.
The new songs are on a new album, what more could we want.
If it [the new songs] would have been placed on the re-release it would have been worse, because then you would have to buy a CD with a lot of tracks you already have, just for those new songs.
Eloy said on February 28, 2004 00:36:
well, I´m terribly angry because we have another “the best hits” (Per is a very naughty boy) but I´m terribly happy for those 3 albums re-released! I´ve always been imaging Moderna Tider and Puls at the same format of GT 20 years! so I think that idea is really cool! :D
besides I think we´re gonna get a “new summer EP” with 4-5 tracks and a first DVD. Anyway, it seems we will have a lot of new material on this year :) Great News; I think :) but I repeat: I´m angry for that compilation :)

——————————————————
does somebody knows if will Roxette back next year?
ally77 said on February 28, 2004 08:41:
Even though I know it is a rip off, I will still buy them! maybe not when they are released.... but I will sure have them at some point in the summer!
Sascha said on February 28, 2004 11:38:
It’s not a rip-off, it’s just a simple compilation! If there were new songs on it, everybody would moan that they had to buy the whole album for it. Now you either want the old songs or you don’t buy it. New songs will come out seperately, a nice treat!
lonely_girl said on February 28, 2004 12:37:
