Roxette cancels Auckland concert

February 9, 2012 — by Paul Belben — Live, Roxette

Live Nation regret to advise that Roxette has been forced to cancel its New Zealand concert, which was to be held at Auckland’s Vector Arena this Saturday, February 11 2012.

Per Gessle of Roxette fell ill during his flight from Stockholm to Auckland and has been forced to rest for several days to prepare for the remainder of the tour. "Per got a crazy stomach bug on the flight so he's dehydrated and needs to rest," says Dita Kleman of d&d.

Despite the best efforts of all involved with the tour, it has not been possible to schedule an alternative date for the Auckland show within the already demanding tour schedule.

The tour will resume as scheduled in Brisbane on Tuesday February 14.

According to Per's Twitter message, Roxette's forthcoming tour album and the follow-up to the 1992 "Tourism" album will be called "T2". The planned release date is late March 2012.

"T2" will contain new and old songs recorded during the Charm School World Tour this year.

Regarding T2: We have about 18-20 songs in the can. 9 is brand new. 2-3-4 are live ones. Some are from hotelrooms. Some are from soundchecks. Guess the album will hold 14-15 tracks when we're done. We luv it!

Roxette will tour North America

November 21, 2011 — by Thomas Evensson — Live, Roxette

During last night's episode of Nordic Rox on satellite radio network Sirius XM, Per Gessle was interviewed in London by co-host Sven Lindström. In the interview Per says that he expects to spend a large amount of time in the U.S. and Canada touring next year. Nothing is however finalized, Per added diplomatically. The Daily Roxette had a chat with Per after the Stockholm gig where he mentioned at least 10 gigs in Canada in September "if things go as planned." "Our roadies and crew have families too, believe it or not, and they need to check with them!" said Per.

The last time Roxette set foot on American soil was in 2000 when they did a small promo tour for the Edel Records release Don't Bore Us - Get to the Chorus!, where they, among other places, performed at the Virgin Records Megastore at Times Square in New York City and at the Frank Gehry-designed Experience Music Project in Seattle.

All in all, with Australia, Asia, South and North Americas, 2012 is looking like another great Rox-year.
