Roxette

C’mon join the joyride!

Satellite music service SiriusXM is Rox-ing out all weekend on its 90s on 9 channel.

This week’s “Back in the Day Replay Countdown,” a weekly countdown of the top 30 hits during a randomly selected year in the 1990s, is playing the top Billboard hits from the week of May 11, 1991. What’s the significance of the seemingly random date? As any good, hotblooded Roxette fan can tell you, 24 years ago this week, “Joyride” topped the U.S. charts. The title track of their second internationally released album, “Joyride” was the Swedish duo’s fourth Billboard Hot 100 hit (following “The Look,” “Listen To Your Heart,” and “It Must Have Been Love.” In addition to celebrating the song’s success, former MTV VJ Downtown Julie Brown, who hosts the “Back In the Day Replay Countdown,” noted that Roxette is currently in Italy as part of their 30th anniversary tour. If you missed the countdown, you can get your tickets, er, listen on SiriusXM’s 90s on 9 all weekend long or listen anytime on-demand.
