Per turned 39!
Roxette's other half, Per Gessle, turned 39. The Daily Roxette congratulates!
Per-Håkan Gessle was born in Halmstad, southern Sweden, on January 12, 1959. He was youngest one of Kurt and Elisabeth Gessle's three children. In 1973 Per dyes his hair for the first time, this operation is successful, as in 1978 Gyllene Tider is founded and the band releases a self-financed EP. Next year EMI signs a record deal with them. In 1980 and 1981 Gyllene Tider -mania begins in Sweden. Gyllene Tider releases four albums before 1985 and tours across Sweden, but Per has still time to make two solo albums. The second one, Scener, released in 1985, becomes Per's least selling album so far. In 1985 Gyllene Tider releases Heartland mini-LP in the States with the name Roxette. They sell maybe a couple of copies and Gyllene Tider decides to split up. Nobody remembers Per anymore.
However, Per still writes songs in his apartment in Halmstad. Roffe Nygren from EMI Svenska says that one of Per's latest songs could be a nice duet with Marie Fredriksson. The song is Neverending Love and the beginning of the new Roxette!
Last year Per released his third solo album, The World According To Gessle. The album hasn't sold as many copies as Per has hoped, but the album maybe gives us hints of Roxette's future sound...
